Clinics Rising Announces John Dau Sudan Foundation as its Next Story

Will document Sudanese “Lost Boy” John Dau as he builds a medical clinic in Sudan

Clinics Rising is exited to announce that it will help the John Dau Sudan Foundation tell its story. The beginning of which was told in the film God Grew Tired of Us. After persevering through a 14 year journey of violence and starvation, in 2001 John Dau finally arrived safely in Syracuse, New York. Here he pursued his own version of the American Dream.

John Dau has since created the Duk Lost Boys Clinic in his hometown of Duk Payuel, located in the Sudan, where violent outbreaks of HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, maternal mortality rates and more prevail, and where there is only one trained doctor for every 100,000 people.

Clinics Rising will pick up the story from here, with the Duk Lost Boys Clinic in its second year of operation. And while John Dau focuses on funding his program, Clinics Rising will help deliver his story with state-of-the-art media, and at no cost whatsoever to his foundation.

About Clinics Rising

Clinics Rising advocates for global health by sharing the real-life challenges of health-care programs provided by Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in some of the most destitute regions of the world. Recognizing that funds may be limited to these programs, Clinics Rising provides free, first-class media to the founding organizations, as well as culturally sensitive medical training materials for use by local populations.

When undertaking health-care projects in remote areas, Clinics Rising asks NGOs to post their findings through the infoshare on ClinicsRising.com, the official Clinics Rising web site, which hosts documents and reports on cultural sensitivities, water collection, sanitation, medical statistics, logistics and local construction techniques. Combining rich and traditional media, broadcast and film, audio and photojournalism, Clinics Rising creates data-rich content and distributes it to major institutions for funding. ClinicsRising.com is one of the many mediums that showcase how change can weather challenge when humans band together, unselfishly.

Since its creation in 2006, Clinics Rising has spent two years in Rwanda documenting two medical clinics for the Wyman World Wide Health Partners.

Clinics Rising founder Peter E Raymond is available for speaking engagements about health care in Central Africa.

As a voice for action on global health issues and the eyes for progress in the global health field, Clinics Rising hopes that you will be a part of this mission. Currently fundraising to help meet production and travel expenses, donations are welcome and can be made by going to www.ClinicsRising.com.
